The Erasmus Group
Philosophy group discussing spiritual and/or religious topics of general interest. Moderated by Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion Professor, Dr. Gonzalo T. Palacios. The Erasmus Group meets every other Wednesday evening at Kensington Row Bookshop. Read about the Erasmus Group at here.

Kensington Historical Society

The Kensington Historical Society was founded in 1977 to preserve and protect the history of this charming small town. Through documents, photos and personal reminiscences we record and treasure those events that make our town so unique.

BookCrossing

BookCrossing will be handing out free books for you to read, enjoy and then release into the wild for others to find. You can then follow your book's travels on the BookCrossing website and take part in an online discussion about books and authors.

Mystery Writers of America's Mid-Atlantic Chapter

Mystery Writers of America, Inc. was established in 1945 by a dozen or so like-minded mystery writers for the purpose of promoting and protecting the interests and welfare of mystery writers and to increase the esteem and literary recognition given to the genre.

Grace Episcopal Day School

As part of our anniversary activities, the Story of Grace has just been published, tracing the schools growth and service first in Silver Spring and then also in Kensington. Grace offers programs for boys and girls in Nursery through 8th grade as well as wonderful 6-week summer program. We look forward to seeing you at the Day of the Book Festival!

Girls Can Save The World
Girls between the ages of 9 and 12, having fun, making friends and contributing to their community. Selling baked goods to raise money for community projects and displaying books that inspire them.

The Healthy Children-Healthy Oceans Foundation
The Healthy Children-Healthy Oceans Foundation (HCHOF) is a Maryland based IRS-approved charitable organization that seeks to interest and to educate children and youth, the leaders of tomorrow, about the oceans and their importance in our lives, all over the world, taking into account maritime history, maritime trade, law of the sea, environmental conservation and habitat preservation, ocean science and technology, literature, poetry, art and mythology. Children and youth at the festival can participate in The Healthy Children-Healthy Oceans Foundation's Drawing Competition.

National Foundation for Cancer Research

The National Foundation for Cancer Research (NFCR) was founded in 1973 to support cancer research and public education relating to prevention, earlier diagnosis, better treatments and ultimately, a cure for cancer. NFCR promotes and facilitates collaboration among scientists to accelerate the pace of discovery from bench to bedside. NFCR is committed to Research for a Cure – cures for all types of cancer.

They will be promoting their children's book Shine Like a Lighthouse written by Tim Janis and narrated by Former First Lady Mrs. Barbara Bush. This uplifiting book tells the tale of a sea full of adorable little creatures who join together to guide others in safe passage around their little lighthouse - a beacon of hope, trust, and security. The proceeds from this book will help give new hope to cancer patients through advanced treatments powered by cutting-edge research.

American Association of University Women (AAUW), Kensington-Rockville
Kensington-Rockville AAUW is part of the national organization of AAUW. We advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. We have been in the Kensington community for more than 50 years. Our members participate in a variety of events and have a book group that has met monthly for most of our history.

NeedleChasers of Chevy Chase

Quilters who meet regularly to share the traditions and technique of quilting, to learn and inspire each other and to contribute to the community. The guild's biennial quilt show will be held in the Kensington Armory on December 3 and 4, 2010.
