Kensington chess master Allan Savage will play 3-4 opponents at
the Kensington Row Bookshop. Anyone who wants to challenge him
is welcome to play for free. The exhibition to promote chess will run
continuously from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Allan is an International Master, Life Master in the United States
Chess Federation, and chess author. He recently retired from the
federal government and is now devoting full-time to chess teaching
and writing

Federal Poets Alec McRae, Edna Small, and Cary Kamarat
Alec McRae, is a native Scot, Korean War veteran and retired psychotherapist. His poems appear in Federal Poet and Poets on the Fringe. He also translates Latin and Classical Greek poetry.
Edna Small, a retired psychologist, has twice been a Jenny McKean Moore Fellow at George Washington Univ. Her poems appear in Beltway, Federal Poet, and Prospectus.
Cary Kamarat has poems in Federal Poet and Prospectus, and on Israel National Radio. His photography appears in Tulane Review; his poetry and photography at www.travelwalk.blogspot.com.
Open Reading follows featured poets.
Open readers are limited to one poem, no longer than one page.

DC-Area Literary Translators Network (DC-ALT)
First Sunday every month 3:00-5:00p.m.
Open to the public.
DC-ALT (DC-Area Literary Translators) is a network for literary translators in the DC area. Our group is open to both publishing translators and anyone else with an interest in literary translation. Each monthly gathering has a different focus, including discussions of articles/books about translation; translation workshops; discussions of recent works in translation; and discussions of translation-related issues.

Meets every third Wednesday night 7 to 9 PM
Dr. Gonzalo T. Palacios invites your participation in discussing spiritual and/or religious topics of general interest. Everyone is welcome (over the age of 18): there will be no limitations to the topics discussed. There are no fees of any kind and street parking is available.
Gonzalo T. Palacios received his Ph.D. from the Catholic University of America and his Ph.L. from the Gregorian University in Rome. He has taught at various universities in Washington DC and presently teaches Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion at Prince George's Community College. Dr. Palacios is married and has 7 grandchildren.
