Noyes Children’s Library Foundation
www.noyeslibraryfoundation.org
The Noyes Children’s Library nestles among towering trees and Victorian homes in historic Kensington, Maryland, offering a book-filled haven for young children and their families. Founded in 1893, Noyes is at once the oldest public library in the Washington D.C. area – predating the current Library of Congress by four years – and a modern-day center for early literacy initiatives.
Despite its history and place in the fabric of the community, Noyes is vulnerable to the current county budget crisis, and was scheduled to be closed in July 2010. The Noyes Children’s Library Foundation – founded in 1991 during a similar crisis – responded to the community outcry and convinced the county to renew the partnership that had kept the Library open throughout the 1990’s

Three-time Pura Belpré Award honoree Lulu Delacre will be signing books at the Noyes Library Foundation table from 12-2pm!

Friends of the Library - Kensington Park Chapter
folmc.org | Facebook | Twitter
The mission of Friends of the Library (FOL) is to strengthen, promote, support, and advocate for the Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPLs). This mission complements the combined efforts of MCPLs, the Library Board, and the Library Advisory Committees, providing program support, matching funds, and specific materials and equipment to augment public monies and maintain a quality public library system. FOL was founded in 1982 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1983. We are not part of the MCPL System or the County, and receive no government funds. Many library branches have FOL chapters, which allows for additional fund raising and advocacy for that local branch. The Friends of the Kensington Park Library recently formed to assist the library in various projects and to sponsor programs for the library patrons.
