Kensington is for book lovers!

With 4 bookstores within 3 blocks of each other, Kensington boasts the highest concentration of neighborhood bookstores in the DC area. As a bonus, many of the Antique shops along the Row also have collections of books for sale, as well as bookends and vintage library accessories and furnishings. While you're enjoying the festival, browse the shops. You never know what you'll find!

Kensington's bookstores also host regular free literary and cultural events. Come to hear poetry, author readings, storytelling, participate in a philosophy discussion group, and much more. Check the bookstore websites for event calendars.

Two stories filled with stories. Quality used, out-of-print and unusual books as well as old postcards and photographs, ephemera, posters, newspapers, vintage ads, new vintage-style greeting cards, and local scenes fill our vibrant shop. We offer plenty of comfortable seating and a cosy environment . Residing within our shop, on the second floor, is the Catalan library and reading room of the Fundacio Pauli Bellet, a collection of books in Catalan of interest to Catalan speakers and students. During special evenings, audiences fill the shop for poetry readings, author readings and group meetings.

Bonjour Mama is a French-language children's bookstore located right inside the wonderful Kensington Row Bookshop in the heart of Old Town Kensington. Our growing collection includes French-language storybooks, audio books, chapter books, bilingual and language learning resources. We also believe adults set an example for children by reading for their own pleasure, so we have a small selection en franšais for grown-ups, too!
