At first their only help came from the Civil Rights Congress, an arm of the Communist Party USA. And this was taking place during the height of the McCarthy era! After the sentences were overturned by the New Jersey Supreme Court, the NAACP and the ACLU decided to become involved. Numerous individuals also helped, such as Paul Robeson, Eleanor Roosevelt, Thurgood Marshall, Pete Seeger, and Albert Einstein. The Trenton SIx became a world-wide sensation and the men were eventually released.. This case and others like it led the way for the Civil Rights Era of the 1960s.

Non-Fiction
"Channeling Elvis: How Television Saved the King of Rock 'n' Roll" peers through TV’s unique lens to take a close-up look at his 20-year career. Based on more than a decade of research, dozens of fresh interviews, and careful review of hours of television and other footage, "Channeling Elvis" focuses on the role television played in creating, sustaining, and reviving the King’s unrivaled popularity. Only television captured the full arc of his career, from those initial steps on the national stage and highly anticipated return from the U.S. Army to his resurrection in the wake of some lame recordings and less-than-stellar movies, renewed acclaim as a concert artist, and premature, self-inflicted 1977 exit. Television captured it all, and Elvis Presley's TV appearances also provided us with the most extensive visual record of this incredible man doing what he loved best: performing live.

David Crockett in Congress: The Rise and Fall of the Poor Man's Friend
Publisher: Bright Sky Press
Non-Fiction
"Winner! 2010 Independent Publishers Award for Regional Non-Fiction!"
Countering the widespread historical persona of David Crockett as little more than a coonskin-capped, buckskin-clad frontier hero, this remarkable biography chronicles his life in politics, revealing him instead as an inveterate entrepreneur, advocate for the poor, and career politician with a talent for hardball campaigning. Through a careful review of his letters, speeches, and political circulars, this provocative and insightful examination provides a unique, long-ignored perspective on the man behind the legend and corrects inaccurate portrayals perpetuated by previous works, most notably James A. Shackford's landmark 1956 biography. A truly exceptional volume, this exploration offers an alternative context for one of American history's most important figures and evaluates the political objectives for which he constantly strove.

Card Game
Publisher: Wheatmark
Fiction
CARD GAME follows JB, a successful divorce lawyer whose best friend’s sudden death forces him to re-examine a lifetime of choices. The book's backdrop is the late 1970’s, when the card game boys gather in a suburban Maryland basement, and the moments when the now-grown friends gather at a funeral to remember all they’ve faced together, and, even more importantly, all that they have not. Moving back and forth through time, CARD GAME is an homage to an era of prank phone calls and fake ID’s, unsupervised boys’ nights out, and more than a fair share of head-shaking depravity. It’s a funny, poignant, and at times painful meditation on death, lifelong friendships and honesty, as irreverent as it is heartfelt.

Point of View on Dying and Living
Publisher: Createspace
Non-Fiction
Exactly six months before my diagnosis, I turned 30 years old. Married and a mother to young boys, I was filled with hopes and dreams, oblivious to the reality that my world, as I knew it, would soon end. In August, 1996 I was diagnosed with a life threatening cervical spinal cord tumor. My doctors told me I would be a quadriplegic within five years. I began radiation treatment to shrink the tumor. Ten months later I was given one to three months to live. I would not see my next birthday. Yet I survived and thrived. I fought for my life with the help of my family and today I see life as an opportunity to love each moment. My illness affected every part of my life-as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend and an individual. These roles made me who I was when my illness struck, and today my illness has defined those roles with greater clarity. Everyone has a story that lives within us. This is my story.
